The Supreme Court has said that if any employee is troubled
due to excessive work in the office and he commits suicide due to this, then the
boss will not be responsible for this. The court said that because of giving
more work to the employee, it can’t be assumed that his boss is a criminal and
he has given more work to exploit the employee or motivate him to commit
suicide, and dismissed the argument of the Bombay High Court that the officer
was culpable even if there was no direct abetment on the grounds that the conditions
created could lead to unbearable mental tension.
