The Hyderabad High Court issued notices to the Centre and the
Telangana governments asking them to respond to a PIL seeking to make certain
amendments to the Land Transfer Regulation Act, 1970. The PIL was filed by
Sureddy Ramana Reddy, a resident of Chunchupally village in Bhadradri
Kothagudem. The petitioner moved the PIL as a party in person seeking to
declare that the Regulation 31(a) of the Telangana Scheduled Areas Land
Transfer Regulation 1959 as amended by Regulation No I of 1970 to the extent it
deprives the right of residence of non-tribals in the scheduled areas in
Telangana as illegal and violative of Article 14 19 and 21 of the Constitution.
