SUPREME COURT REJECTS CENTRE’S PLEA TO STAY ITS VERDICT ON SC/ST ACT

The Supreme Court refused to stay its March 20 judgment diluting the provision of mandatory arrest under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and set aside the Centre’s charge that the verdict marked an intrusion into the sphere of the legislature and rewriting of the law.
