Maneka Gandhi, Minister for Women and Child Development has
written to all states and union territories asking them to ensure that the male
child survivors of sexual abuse or exploitation are included in the victim
compensation scheme. The minister has also highlighted that POCSO Act is gender
neutral and safeguards the interest of not only the girl child but also the
male child. The compensation awarded by the special court is to be paid by the
state government from the victims’ compensation fund.
