The Central government is all set to increase the minimum
compensation payable to road accident victims or their family members by 10
times. It suggested that the compensation payable would be applicable in cases
where victims die, face permanent disability and even minor injuries,
irrespective of income and age. It has
also kept a provision open for individuals to approach the Motor Accident
Claims Tribunal (MACT), in cases where they seek higher compensation for their
loss.
