SUPREME COURT SEEKS DETAILS OF CRIMINAL CASES PENDING AGAINST MPS, MLAS


The Supreme Court directed chief secretaries of 25 states and Union Territories and registrar general of their high courts to furnish details on the status of cases pending against MPs and MLAs. The court said that information was needed to decide on setting up of fast-track courts to exclusively deal with cases against lawmakers to dispose of them within a year. As of now, 12 such special courts are functioning in 11 states.
