UNION CABINET CLEARED ANTI-TRAFFICKING BILL, 2018 WHICH PROVIDES STRINGENT PUNISHMENT

The Union government cleared the Trafficking of Persons (Prevention, Protection and Rehabilitation) Bill, 2018 which prescribes stringent penalties ranging from 10 years rigorous imprisonment to life imprisonment and fine of up to Rs 1 lakh in grave cases for the offenders. As per the new Bill, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) would also act as the Anti-Trafficking Bureau.
