HEAR CASES OF THOSE JAILED FOR MORE THAN 5 YEARS ON PRIORITY: CHIEF JUSTICE OF INDIA TO SUPREME COURT AND HIGH COURTS

Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra said to the Supreme Court and High Courts to expeditiously hear cases pending for more than five years and decide on appeals filed by people lodged in jails for a similar period of time. The state legal services authorities will provide an advocate free of cost to poor jail inmates. The service will be provided to those who have been in prison for more than five years and the advocates will argue appeals before the courts during priority hearing.
