PEOPLE CAN APPROACH HIGH COURT DIRECTLY WHEN THEIR LAND WAS ACQUIRED BY THE GOVERNMENT WITHOUT INVOKING THE LAND ACQUISITION ACT

The Hyderabad High Court held the land owners have a right to move the High Court under Article 300-A of the Constitution when their land was forcibly acquired by the government without invoking the Land Acquisition Act, and set aside an order of a single judge, which directed the land owners to approach a civil court for the compensation. The court was dealing with an appeal by two women farmers from Karukonda village of Nagarkurnool district challenging the single judge order.
