CENTRE MAY NOT GIVE TRANSGENDERS EXEMPTION FROM SECTION 377 OF IPC

Transgender persons may not to be exempted from the ambit of the law criminalizing homosexuality. Sources said that the legality of Section 377 (criminalizes sexual activities against the order of nature, including homosexual sexual activities) of IPC, which makes homosexuality a crime, is pending before the Supreme Court, a reason why the government would not want to touch the sensitive issue.
