ROAD TRANSPORT AUTHORITY MAKES AADHAAR MUST FOR DRIVING LICENCE

Road Transport Authority (RTA) will soon make Aadhaar number mandatory for all transactions like obtaining driving licence, registration of a vehicle etc.,

The Modi-government now made mandatory to link the Aadhaar number with permanent account number (PAN) to file income-tax (IT) returns with effect from July 1, 2017, and also made compulsory quoting of Aadhaar number at the time of applying for Permanent Account Number (PAN).

SUPREME COURT REFUSED TO STAY CENTRE NOTIFICATION MAKING AADHAAR MANDATORY

Hyderabad and Rangareddy are among top 70 districts in the country with high incidences of child marriages as per Census 2011, breaking the myth that child marriages occur more often in rural areas. The Hyderabad High Court has dismissed a petition filed by a private banker to take action under Section 138 of the 'Negotiable Instrument Act' on a person who did not repay the loan amount of Rs 2 lakh and ruled that a person who took the money cann’t be legally charged by the money lender, if the money lender didn’t shown that money in his IT returns.

REAL ESTATE REGULATION ACT TO BE NOTIFIED WITHIN A WEEK IN TELANGANA STATE

K Taraka Rama Rao, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister of Telangana state said that the Real Estate Regulation Act (RERA) is expected to be notified in the state within a week.

AMENDMENT TO THE MEDICAL TERMINATION OF PREGNANCY ACT: SUPREME COURT

The Supreme Court decided to make amendment to the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act, which help the women to abort terminally ill fetuses beyond the current limit of 20 weeks. The court made this statement while hearing the plea of Kolkata-based 24-week pregnant woman.

SUPREME COURT ISSUED NOTICE TO CENTRE ON ABORTION PLEA

The Supreme Court sought the Centre's response to a petition by a Kolkata-based pregnant woman challenging the validity of Section 3 of the MTP Act, 1971, which says pregnancy cannot be terminated after 20 weeks and asked a direction for termination of a foetus of Kolkata-based woman which is more than 20 weeks old as it was suspected that the foetus suffered from Tetrology of Fallot, a combination of four impairments in the heart.

POLICE LINKING AADHAAR NUMBER OF CRIMINAL ACCUSED TO HIS RECORDS

Hyderabad city police has begun linking the Aadhaar number of a person arrested in any criminal case with his identity, and said that they are linking the Aadhaar number to prevent the accused from taking different names each time they are arrested in different jurisdictions, and also said that they take Aadhaar numbers and proof of only the arrested accused and not those named in FIRs.

MAN HELD FOR HACKING GOLCONDA RESORTS EMAIL

Mohammed Althaf, Golconda Resorts ex-employee was arrested by the Cyberabad Cyber Crime team for hacking the information from the manager’s computer of Golconda Resorts and using the information to boost his career. The arrest took place after senior staff of Golconda Resorts filed a complaint with police.

AADHAAR NUMBER MUST FOR NEW BANK ACCOUNT AND FOR TRANSACTION ABOVE RS. 50,000

The Centre has made mandatory to provide Aadhaar numbers while opening bank accounts and carrying out financial transactions of Rs 50,000 or more, according to a notification by the revenue department. Even existing bank account holders will have to furnish Aadhaar numbers issued by the UIDAI by December 31.

LAW PANEL SUGGEST CODE OF CRIMINAL PROCEDURE AMENDMENT

The Law Commission in its 268th report, suggested amendment to Section 41 of CrPC which gave power to a police officer to arrest any without a warrant or order from a magistrate and the arrest shall be recorded by the investigating officer prior to making the arrest in the case diary as well as the daily diary register.

The Hyderabad High Court has directed DGP’s of both telugu states to issue orders to all the police stations that no FIR should be filed in the event of love marriages following both the parties consent that both of them being major or unless the marriage was a forced one or under pressure, threat or under intoxication, coercion or undue influence.

Central government has decided that updating of Aadhaar details such as change in address, mobile and correcting errors would be handed over to the post offices across the country.

SUPREME COURT AGREED LINKING OF PAN WITH AADHAAR NUMBER FOR IT RETURNS

The Supreme Court passed the newly inserted provision in the Income Tax Act that mandating linking of Aadhaar number with the PAN card but exempted those without Aadhaar for now, and also said to the government to tighten the procedure to guard against the leakage of personal information of citizens.
